Adventure Upgrade Revealed

Losi Tent

We partner with brands from around the industry to bring giveaways to a few lucky, randomly selected Cairn subscribers. There’s no contest to enter and no forms to fill out. Just by being you, a Cairn Subscriber, you have the chance each month to receive a killer Adventure Upgrade!

This month, we’re giving away 3 Losi LS 3P tents from NEMO! Priced at $489.95 per tent, one of these could be yours if you open your next Cairn collection, find a “You’ve Won” notice, and share a photo of how stoked you are on social media.

One of our favorite things about our job is introducing subscribers to new brands that we think are awesome. NEMO is known for developing high-quality gear that holds strong through all of your adventures, which is why we recently featured their sleeping pads in the Fall Obsidian Collection! NEMO is founded on a commitment to the fearless pursuit of uncharted paths. They believe “meaningful adventures are possible for everyone, anywhere. Possible, that is, if you bring the will, the imagination, and the right gear.” We’re on board with that!

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Legal residents of the U.S., at least 18. The Official Rules which govern this Sweepstakes are available here. Sweepstakes begins on [10/1/16] and ends on [10/31/16]. A big congratulations to one of our inspirational ambassadors, Heather Gannoe, who recently completed the TransRockies Run--and was proposed to at the summit! Read more about her experience on the Run, which involved 6 days, 120 miles, and 20K feet of elevation gain as she traversed through the Colorado Rockies.

Theme of the Month: Four-Legged Trail Buds

We’re all about backpacking and the furry adventure companions that make it extra fun. Ruffwear is at the top of our list for tried-and-true gear that your dog will be as excited about as you are. At Ruffwear, they believe that “Dogs encourage us to follow our nose just to see where the experience takes us. They improve our health, our lives, and our outlook… and ask for little in return. Combine a dog's appetite for exploration with the right equipment and you'll be prepared for yet another grand adventure.” We couldn’t agree more!

For further inspiration to hit the trail with Fido, check out the post “7 Reasons to Hike With Your Dog” from one of our favorite dog blogs, “You Did What With Your Weiner.” If that name doesn't draw you in, we don't know what will!

What’s Happening at Cairn?

Bend Backyard 1

Bend Backyard 2

While most of us spent our morning using impressive-looking tools to clear over a half mile of trail of invasive plants, Jared and Bill spent the ENTIRE time digging two massive roots out of the trail. As you can see, they were very proud of themselves for ‘conquering’ the roots.

The Cairn Crew had a great time last week volunteering with the Bend Backyard Collective helping to clear trails in Skyliner Sno Park! The initiative by The Conservation Alliance was a rewarding way for us all to contribute to the trails we enjoy on a regular basis. We even got to hang out with other stellar local companies, including Hydroflask, Deschutes Brewery, Ruffwear, Foot Zone, and Picky Bars.

The Backyard Collectives bring together teams from member companies and local grantees for a day of environmental action. These events allow us to get out of the office and get our hands dirty, doing good work to preserve and protect the open spaces in our own backyards.

We believe an important part of enjoying the outdoors is taking care of it as much as you can. It's our responsibility to be good stewards to our global community and the natural environments we enjoy so much. Learn more about our community involvement here.

What’s Up Next?

Guest blogger and Cairn Ambassador Katie Levy of Adventure-Inspired.com is back with her tips, tricks, and advice on Leave No Trace practices. Whether you’re on a quick day hike or deep in the backcountry, these principles are always good to keep in mind so we can all continue to enjoy the beauty nature has to offer. Keep an eye out for her post next week on the Cairn Blog.
