One Tiny Tube, Infinite Uses
As we gear up for spring and summer seasons outside, outdoors people are digging through gear bins to sort out what shape their gear is in after last year’s adventures and a season of storage. Whether it’s financial or environmental consciousness (or both), many of us are motivated to do what’s necessary to keep our gear in good working order for as long as possible. Amazingly, a tiny, 1-ounce tube of Gear Aid’s Seam Grip WP Waterproof Sealant and Adhesive could be the savior that keeps your tents, jackets, packs and more in active rotation for years to come.
Recently featured in a Monthly Cairn Collection, Seam Grip WP is a very minor investment ($7 – 8) that can have a major impact on extending the life and quality of experience of just about anything that needs a waterproof seal.
What’s so great about it?
- It’s clear, so it’s not going to impact the look of the item on which you use it.
- It dries flexible, so it’s not going to impact the feel or performance (except in a positive way) of the item on which you use it.
- 1-ounce tube seals up to 12 feet of seams.
- Creates a permanent waterproof seal.
- Is an adhesive and a sealant. So, you can use it with the intention of one function or the other or both.
- Use it on just about any outdoor fabric: vinyl, nylon, leather, polyester, and canvas.
- The tube is tiny, so there’s no excuse to leave it behind on any excursion.
Here are just a few of the ways you can put this tiny tube to use. The list could go on just about forever…
- Pre-emptive waterproof sealing for rainfly or tent. Don’t wait for that dreaded drip on a rainy night. Seal your tent seams now and avoid a cold, damp night this camping season.
- Repair existing seals on tents, tarps, outerwear, and packs. Even if seams come with waterproof taped seams, this often degrades and flakes over time which can dramatically affect the seams’ performance.
- Repair split or damaged convertible tops, boat covers, and outdoor awnings.
- Repair that ripped puffy or lightweight, packable shell. Often these fabrics are lightweight and high performance but can be surprisingly fragile when it comes to snags and abrasions. Fix a tear while sealing it at the same time!
- If you’ve had a piece of outdoor gear, apparel or accessory repaired or enhanced with stitching or patching of some sort, reinforce the repair while waterproofing it.
- Reinforce waterproofing on items where a strong seal is essential like waders or dry bags.
