To celebrate climbing and its diverse community, the editors of Climbing just published Ascent, a coffee-table worthy, special-edition, limited-run print magazine. This first re-publication of Ascent will reflect climbing's changing tides, from cultural to personal to crag development, the issue's rebirth echoes that of climbing's. Some things are entering a golden era, like Arkansas sport climbing, or the first young-guns born and raised in El Chalten, while for Astra Lincoln and Will Esposito, climbing will never quite be the same. Larger industry changes are also discussed, such as recent rumblings against achievement-culture. Despite growing pains, the issue will be a celebration of the sport's positive impacts and its bright future. Ascent will feature more nuanced thought and surprising personal insights of what it means to be a climber.
